Non solo Soulé, la Roma vola con una nuova ‘freccia’: l’ascesa è iniziata

Daniele De Rossi’s vision for Roma goes beyond Matias Soulé. The Italian manager wants a team that can soar, both metaphorically and literally. The wings—or the wide positions—will be crucial, and making the right choice is paramount.

Countdown to Serie A Kickoff

With just three weeks left until the Serie A season starts, the heat is on. And it’s not just the weather that’s warming up. Every coach, including De Rossi, is eager to see their squad in top form for the mid-August kickoff. However, the reality is that no team will be complete until August 30, the closing date of the transfer window.

Open Development: Transfer Targets

Until then, all teams will resemble open construction sites to various extents. Roma is no exception. Despite an already significant transfer window performance by sporting director Florent Ghisolfi and his team, several more deals need closing. Currently, the offensive line is drawing most of the attention from the club’s brass. The acquisitions of Matias Soulé and the imminent signing of Artem Dovbyk might suggest otherwise. Yet, under De Rossi’s guidance, Ghisolfi is evaluating players for other positions too, notably the defense.

Roma’s Swift Move Explored

Soulé-Dybala and the play on the wings are focal points. However, De Rossi’s Roma still needs a right-back. With Karsdorp excluded from the squad and Celik not meeting expectations, Roma’s search has turned elsewhere. The primary target appears to be Marc Pubill, a 21-year-old currently with Almeria and playing in the Olympics for Spain. Pubill’s talent has also attracted Aston Villa and Newcastle, adding competition for his signature. Consequently, an older option has resurfaced: Raoul Bellanova, a 23-year-old defender from Torino and an Italian international. Torino’s president, Urbano Cairo, values him at 25 million euros plus bonuses. Roma previously tried to include Zalewski in the deal, a proposal Torino quickly dismissed. As of now, discussions remain preliminary, lacking crucial details.
